The inspiration for the firm was born from the search for a portfolio solution for investors that would be similar to the highly successful university endowment funds. The inclusion of alternative investments and prudent risk management are the major differentials between those highly successful funds and the strategies often delivered to institutional and individual investors.

Until recently, alternatives have been difficult to access and consequently have played a limited role in portfolio construction. Through the use of recently identified portfolio solutions and effective management of individual asset class exposure, Pelagos is able to construct portfolios that exhibit attractive risk/return characteristics.
